Principles and analysis of the Japanese butoh movement.
Pé has researched this dance movement for many years while being a student of and later collaborating intensively with Akira Kasai, Min Tanaka, Masaki Iwana in Japan, the U.S. and in Europe. They are three remarkable and distinguished dancers Equally in Pé’s approach – in her teaching and in her dancing – butoh is much more an assembly of specific thoughts about and body and dance than she defends it as a style
In this 2 – weekly class open to professionals and amateurs, Pé proposes a theoretical background as well as a concrete practice of this dance movement, treating the ankoku butoh movement of Tatsumi Hijikata, the bodyweather of Min Tanaka, the anthroposophic approach of Akira Kasai.
Participants will be invited to read and watch video fragments as they will also dance and discover the principles of butoh, surpassing the limitations and imitations of the typical style.
